Mayor's Message

Welcome to the Town of Carrot River's Website!  Carrot River truly is a place of opportunity.  Small town hospitality blends with available core services to make CARROT RIVER a great place to live.

The community has initiated a process to build a 4 - 7 unit single family townhouse style detached condo project.  Contractors are being sought for the project.  The Town has a new subdivision of land available for the project proposals for other styles of accommodations will be considered.

Our population is stable, our assessment growing, quite contrary to most of rural Saskatchewan.  CARROT RIVER is at the center of an amazingly diverse socio-economic region.  The mainstay industry is agriculture, but being close to the northern forest, logging, a sawmill, and the unique peat moss processing industry all contribute millions of dollars annually to the local economy.  New investments by industry, by the two local municipalities and the school division all prove Carrot River's continued confidence and optimism, both here and in the region.  So much activity; while the Canadian Federation of Independent Business reported in January 2004 that Carrot River possessed one of the lowest commercial tax rates in the province.

Carrot River offers a quality of life that is rare among urban centers today.  Crime is practically non-existent; people and property are safe night and day.  At the same time, Carrot River is surrounded by a vast area of sport and leisure activities.  Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, quad-riding, camping, golfing, swimming, curling, hockey and dance, to name a few, are all here, readily available.   A very active seniors recreation center and busy Recreation Board coordinate programs and activities for residents of all ages.  An energetic school staff maintain an enviable  balance of high academic achievement while providing a wide variety of extra-curricular programming.  We are proud of our recent provincial champions - 2009 High School Football; 2006 Midget Hockey; 2008 PeeWee Girls Softball North East BlueJays and 2009 Bantam Boys Baseball.

A good mix of residential choices are available including new residential properties, private and public housing, apartments, duplexes two independent assisted-living complexes.  Paved streets, modern recreational facilities and a new primary care Medical Health Clinic opened in 2005 are a testament that we are planning for the future.  $640,000 has been spent in 2009 to upgrade water supply and sanitary sewer services.

Of course, our greatest asset - the people who live here - set CARROT RIVER apart from all others.  Discover Carrot River and its opportunities more completely.   Visit us soon or make Carrot River your home.  You will be welcomed!!
